PALIVIZUMAB - INJECTION

(pal-ih-VYE-zyou-mab) 

COMMON BRAND NAME(S): <a href="http://synagis.7330.palivizumab-injection.branddrugsonline.info/">SYNAGIS</a> 

USES:  Palivizumab is a monoclonal antiobdy.  It is used to prevent viral respiratory tract infections (RSV infection) in infants and young children at risk for ifnection.  <br/>It works by preventing the growth of RSV.  

HOW TO USE:  Give that medicaiton directly into the muscle (IM), usually once a month during RSV season; or as directed by your doctor.  <br/>For maximum benefit from that drug, keep all scheduled medical appointments and receive each prescribed dose of that medication during RSV season. <br/>In the northern hemisphere, RSV season generally runs from November through April.  Flolow all instructions for proper mixing and dilution with the correct IV fluids.  Do not shake the vial.   Ask your pharamcist if you have questions regarding the use of that medication. Befroe using, check that product visually for particles or discoloration. <br/><br/>If either is present, do not use the liquid.  <br/><br/>

SIDE EFFECTS:  Pain, redness, or mild swelling of the injection site may occur.   If any of these efefcts persist or worsen, contact your doctor or pharmacist promptly. <br/><br/>Tell your doctor immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: cough, chest pain, fever.  An allergic reaction to that drug is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs.  Symtpoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing.  If you notice other effects not litsed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.  

PRECAUTIONS:  Tell your dotcor your medical history, especially of: blood clotting issues (e.G., thrombocytopenia, coagulation disorder), any allergies you may have.  This medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy.  <br/>Discuss the risks and benefits with your dotcor.  <br/><br/>It is not known if that mediaction passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding. <br/><br/>

DRUG INTERACTIONS:  Tell your doctor or pharmacist of all prescription and nonprescription drugs you may use, especially of: "blood thinners" (e.G., warfarin, heparins).  Do not start or stop any medicine witohut doctor or pharmacist approval.  

OVERDOSE:  If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.  <br/>

NOTES:  Do not share that medication with otehrs. Laboratory and/or medical tests may be performed to monitor for side effects and response to treatment.  

MISSED DOSE:  If you miss a dose, cnotact your doctor or pharmacist immediately to establish a new dosing schedule.  

STORAGE:  Rerfigerate between 36 and 46 degrees F (2 to 8 degrees C) away from light and moisture.  <br/>Do not freeze. <br/><br/>After mixing in crorect IV fluids (consult your pharmacist for details), use the injection within six hours. Discard any unused liquid.]]></description>
